Fredericton's edgy chamber group Motion Ensemble prepared to premiere a new composition this weekend by the celebrated expat Canadian Christopher Mayo...The Toronto-born, London-based Mayo is known for his multimedia, experimental music extravaganzas and is scheduled to cross the Atlantic so he can attend the first public performances of his newest composition by the group that commissioned it.

Jolt Him, An Awl, A Sin was commissioned by Motion Ensemble with funding from the Canada Council for the Arts.
Jolt Him, An Awl, A Sin uses the ambient sounds, audience reactions, coughs and asides from poet Jonathan Williams’ reading at City Lights Books, Sylva, North Carolina, 27 May 2005. These sounds are mostly extremely quiet, and the result is a piece that is occasionally interrupted by seemingly unprompted riotous laughter.
Jonathan Williams died from pneumonia in March 2008 at his home in Highlands, North Carolina.
